INTRODUCTION Physiotherapy is a branch of modern science, for preventing, correcting, acute &chronic bodily malfunction, life saving measure in I.C.C.U., physical and psychosomatic disorders using mobilization, manipulation. Therapeutic ultra sound electrical &thermal agents etc., for diagnosis, prevention and treatment. Physiotherapy is playing an important role in rehabilitation of the handicapped. It is estimated that there are SO million handicapped people in India. One physiotherapist and 2 assistant physiotherapists are required for ten patients. Hence the Govt. felt the urgent need to start a professional Vocational course of the Assistant Physiotherapist at Intermediate level.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
TRAINING IN SKILLS Students are trained in various systems of function of body parts, handling of equipments, develop skills in Massage, Hydrotherapy, transporting of patients, electrical stimulation, Joint exercises, polio myelitis and post operative exercises. They are also trained to maintain - records.
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES Govt. & Private Employment: As Assistant-Physiotherapist in Rehabilitation Centers, juvenile delinquency Homes, Remand Homes, Prisons, Health Club, Rural Rehabilitation Centers, General Hospitals, Medical Colleges, Private Physiotherapy Centre, Physiotherapy Colleges, Artificial Limb Centre Gymnasiums, Beauty Parlour & Clinics, Nature Cure Centre, Massage Centre, etc.
Self Employment: Can set up the Following under the supervision of qualified physiotherapist: Physiotherapy Centers. Mobile Physiotherapy Centers, Mobile Physiotherapy Clinics, Personal Attendant for disabled persons.
